CoraL Bay and Exmouth: Fishing and Whale Sharking ;)

Hey guys!
Due to all my international friends, I’m going to write in English this time, so that everybody can understand.
Last week, we spent a view days at Coral Bay, and yes, it’s a bay with lots of corals, where we went snorkelling at the Ningaloo Reef just a view meters away from the beach (see photo).

When you held your head under water, you could discover plenty of different fish there, for example parrot fish or big snappers. The snappers were also a kind of tourist attraction, which were fed every second day.

On Thursday we headed further up north to Exmouth and booked our whale shark tour. From May to July it’s whale shark season there and these big fish come all their way up from the Antarctica to Australia to feed and breed. Whale sharks are the biggest fish in the ocean and yes, we did swim with them on Friday. Friday morning a bus fetched us at the caravan park and took us to the boat ramp, where we stepped on the boat. Then we first headed to a nice snorkelling place, where we got used to the snorkel equipment and tried it out. While we snorkelled there a spotter plain went up to discover the whale shark. Once spotted, we headed for the place the whale shark was seen and jumped into the water. Sometimes we saw it and swam with it, sometimes it got lost or dived away. But at least we swam with four different whale sharks (one was approximately eight meters long!!) and it was really exciting.

Just imagine swimming in the open Indian Ocean with the biggest fish in the world! What an adventure! On our way we also saw a hammerhead (dt. Hammerhai), two bottlenosed dolphins, a dugong (dt. Seekuh) and some turtles. It was really cool!

For the rest of the week, we are relaxing on the beach and fishing for our dinner. On the photo you can see me catching some fish. But Daniels fish was a better dinner J

On Friday we are probably going to the Cape Range National Park near Exmouth and then we wanted to head for Karijini National Park.

Lots of greetings from Down Under! See ya!
